From a preventive and therapeutic point of view, there are two concerns that [...]

SARS-CoV-2 variants accumulating immune escape mutations provide a significant risk to vaccine-induced protection. The novel variant of concern Omicron (B.1.1.529) has to date the largest number of amino acid alterations in its Spike protein. Thus, it may efficiently escape recognition by neutralizing antibodies, allowing breakthrough infections in convalescent and vaccinated individuals.

Authors: Kuyandik A, Ozcan E, Serin S, Sungurtekin H DOI: 10.4274/tybd.galenos.2021.91885 Abstract ABSTRACT Reports of neurological problems are increasing for the clinical presentation of COVID19. The clinical presentation reported in this study seemed to be a combination of nonspecific complications of the systemic disease, inflammation of the cerebrovascular system, and the effects of a direct [...]

Authors: Miranda-Massari JR, Toro AP, Loh D, Rodriguez JR, Borges RM PMID: 34947872 PMCID: PMC8708699 DOI: 10.3390/life11121341 Abstract Currently available anti-viral drugs may be useful in reducing the viral load but are not providing the necessary physiological effects to reduce the SARS-CoV-2 complications efficiently. Treatments that provide better clinical outcomes are urgently needed. Vitamin C [...]

Authors: Neil M, Fenton N, Smalley J, Craig C, Guetzkow J, Rose J DOI:10.13140/RG.2.2.14176.20483 Abstract The risk/benefit of Covid vaccines is arguably most accurately measured by an all-cause mortality rate comparison of vaccinated against unvaccinated, since it not only avoids most confounders relating to case definition but also fulfils the WHO/CDC definition of "vaccine effectiveness" [...]

Authors: Mohabatkar H, Behbahani M, Moradi M doi: https://doi.org/10.15414/jmbfs.4813 Abstract COVID-19 has shown higher virulence compared to the previous coronavirus epidemics and has shown that it causes damages to the nervous system. In the present study, PrionW web server was used to predict the prion-like domains (PrLDs) in 15 structural and nonstructural proteins of SARS-CoV, [...]

A 68-year-old male presented with lung opacity, fatigue, physical and cognitive weaknesses, loss of smell and [...]

Authors: Abrams RM, Simpson DM, Navis A, Jette N, Zhou L PMID: 34766365 PMCID: PMC8661991 DOI: 10.1002/mus.27458 Abstract Introduction/aims: The development and persistence of neurological symptoms following severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection is referred to as "long-haul" syndrome. We aimed to determine whether small fiber neuropathy (SFN) was associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection. [...]

Authors: Robbins T, Gonevski M, Clark C, Sharma K, Magar A PMID: 34862223 PMCID: PMC8806311 DOI: 10.7861/clinmed.2021-0462 Abstract Background: Long COVID is a common occurrence following COVID-19 infection. The most common symptom reported is fatigue. Limited interventional treatment options exist. We report the first evaluation of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) for long COVID treatment. Methods: [...]

Clinical trials and ongoing vaccinations present with varying degrees of protection levels and side effects. However, [...]
